AdGuard

Hey AdGuard team, here are four ideas for your paywall, each backed by data from 78,000+ paywalls.

Built in Adapty Flow Builder

Millions of dollars in subscription revenue pass through Flow Builder every month.

Nearly 500 apps actively build their paywalls and onboarding in it — plenty of them past $100K MRR.

What this is

We installed AdGuard for Safari, went through it like a new user, and set your paywall next to the report.

Adapty powers subscriptions for 30,000+ apps, so we get to see what moves conversion across the market rather than inside one app. We walked your first screens, opened the paywall, tried every plan, closed it, and read your App Store listing. Then we compared what we saw with State of Paywalls 2026.

What follows is four ideas, not fifteen. Each one is a hypothesis you can A/B test, and each one is built into a clickable prototype. The prototype uses your design, not ours. Benchmarks are for Utilities apps in Europe, the closest match to your App Store category and your largest store markets.

We did not redesign your app

The prototype keeps your dark screen, your feature carousel, your green two-line button and your bordered plan control. We changed what the paywall shows and what happens when someone closes it, using only plans and claims you already publish.

You may have tested some of this

We are working from the outside, so we cannot see your experiment history. If you have already run one of these, tell us and we will go deeper on the rest.

The four ideas

Ranked by what we would test first.

Offer changes come first, because the report finds they win A/B tests more often than visual ones. Each row opens the screen in the prototype.

01

Show all three plans, with the saving on Yearly

Today Monthly, Yearly and Lifetime hide behind one dropdown, so nobody sees that 8,99 € a year is 0,75 € a month, 62% less than paying 1,99 € monthly. Put them side by side as cards and keep Yearly selected with its free week.

📊State of Paywalls 2026 · Plan duration and plan-count changes win 57–59% of LTV tests, visual tweaks 35%.

02

Explain the free week before they start it

The button says “7 days free”, and the renewal rules sit in small print under Restore. A three-line timeline (today, a reminder on day 5, the charge on day 7) plus “Cancel anytime” next to the button answers the question people ask before they tap.

📊State of Paywalls 2026 (Europe) · 55% of trials are cancelled within 24 hours, 41% within the first hour.

03

Put your 160 million users on the paywall

Your listing says 17 years of ad blocking and fully open source, your site says 160 million people use AdGuard, and you hold 4.3 stars on the App Store. None of it is on the paywall. One quiet row under the carousel is enough.

📊State of Paywalls 2026 · Only 27% of top paywalls show social proof.

Give the close a second chance

Tap X today and you land on the home screen, where the “Get stronger with Premium!” card opens the same paywall again. Show one sheet on close instead: your own Monthly plan with its free week, and Lifetime as the pay-once option. No new prices.

📊State of Paywalls 2026 · Only 4% of apps do this; it converts at 0.88× the main paywall.

All four make the decision easier to read: what each plan really costs, how the free week ends, who else uses AdGuard, and a second option for people who say no.
